Alloy Steel 4620

Alloy Steel 4620, also known as AISI 4620, is a nickel, molybdenum, and manganese low alloy steel. Offering a good combination of strength and toughness, heat-treating Alloy Steel 4620 can raise its strength levels. Welding is possible through conventional means, but only before heat treatment or carburization. Alloy Steel 4620 is easily machinable and is perfect for applications that demand carburized parts with outstanding core strength and toughness such as:

  • Aircraft parts
  • Automotive parts
  • Eyewear

To be considered Alloy Steel 4620, an alloy must consist of a specific chemical composition that includes:

  • Fe Balance
  • Ni 1.65-2%
  • Mn 0.45-0.65%
  • Mo 0.2-0.3%
  • C 0.17-0.22%
  • Si 0.15-0.35%
  • S 0.04%
  • P 0.035%
